Is there a “Harris Ambulance Service”? We are proud to offer Advanced Life Support Ambulance Service. We work in cooperation with the South Bend Fire Department Paramedics that respond along with Harris units on “Advanced Life Support” emergencies. Is there a charge for ambulance service? Yes, but this charge is usually covered and billed to your insurance or Medicade / Medicare. The fee is $300 for Basic Life Support and additional fees if it is an “Advanced Life Support” service is provided. There is also an $8.00 per mile fee per transport. Why does a fire truck respond on medical emergencies? As medical first responders we deploy our personnel to be prepared to respond quickly to most emergencies that they may encounter. Our fire apparatus carries rescue tools, fire suppression equipment and emergency medical supplies. How do I get a burn permit? Before you apply for a burn permit, please check your homeowner association rules regarding open burning . To obtain a permit stop by our administrative offices Monday through Friday between 8 AM—4 PM. Of course we’d encourage everyone to dispose of yard waste through other methods other than open burning. My Carbon Monoxide alarm is going off, what should I do? If you show any signs of illness, evacuate the building and call 911. Even if you do not feel ill we will respond to with appropriate equipment to monitor for the presence of carbon monoxide. We respond to this and other calls for service free of charge. |
